Welcome to the Helper application! In this role, you will assist in community management and moderation. Ensure safety and harmony in the community, and fair play in our games.

1. Role Description

Helper duties are as follows:

  • Moderate our community in our games, game servers, online chat rooms or forums.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and harmony of our community.
  • Act as a role model for community behavior.
  • Perform disciplinary action as needed on troublemakers within the community.
  • Work with other Helpers, Moderators, and Community Managers to execute your duties.

Helpers can moderate in the following areas:

  • Our Discord server.
  • Our Subreddit.
  • Any future games or game servers that may be released which have any community element.

The helper team is casual and laid back, but occasionally some cases may be stressful. You may be harassed by problematic members of the community for doing your job. You may have to give a punishment to someone who is your friend. You may have to punish someone who is in the right, but acting out of line. However, you will not have to work alone on difficult cases, and we will provide you with the tools and all the help you need to deal with these situations.

2. Qualification

The minimum qualifications for Helper are as follows:

  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Be an active member of our Discord server and community as a whole.
  • Have a good reputation with the current staff team.
  • Have no recent infractions on any Gamer Dorks community, game, or game server.
  • Follow the account security standards from the General Staff Handbook.

We are looking for the following attributes in our applicants:

  • Interpersonal skills
  • Friendly demeanor
  • Eager and quick to learn new skills
  • Reasonable decision-making skills when under pressure
  • Intermediate Discord literacy

Past experience in these categories is preferred, but not required:

  • Customer support
  • Online community management
  • Discord moderator

3. Compensation

Disclaimer: This is a volunteer role. Helpers are not paid at this time. This may change in the future, if we are fortunate, but this is not guaranteed.

Benefits:

  • Free access to all our games on Steam, after a month of active participation in the team.
  • Per hour worked, $5 of store credit to be used on in-game purchases.

7. Review

Once you have completed your Helper application, await an email from admin@gamerdorks.net. If your application was accepted, we will schedule a follow-up with you. Before the follow-up, please ensure that:

  • You can send and receive emails from the email address you used on your staff application.
  • You have a working Discord, Steam, Email, and Google account; secured with multi-factor authentication.
  • Preferably, you have a working microphone and are in a quiet room. If voice communication is not an option, it is not required.
