Join the Gamer Dorks Team!

Gamer Dorks is powered by a team of volunteer staff who moderate our communities, host our events, and develop our games.  And if you’re interested, you can volunteer as well!

Expectations

We require our staff to:

  1. Be an active, exemplary member and moderator of the Discord community.
  2. Participate in at least one of our other projects, including, but not limited to:
    • Developing or moderating DorkNet, our Minecraft Network.
    • Hosting community events on our Discord.

We have a variety of tasks available in all our projects.  We have deadlines and certain requirements, but so long as these are met, we expect all staff to choose what they do and when they do it.  In DorkNet, staff members may participate in Building, Brainstorming, Playtesting, Scripting, Artwork, or Writing tasks.

Finally, we expect our staff to meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Be in our Discord server.
  • Have a good reputation with the current staff team.
  • Have no recent infractions on any Gamer Dorks community, game, or game server.
  • Have experience in or are eager to learn the skills necessary to do your job.
  • Be an active member of the community and be eager to see it grow.
  • Want to assist in the development of our community and projects.

Compensation and Benefits

At the current time, Gamer Dorks does not make a profit from its projects, and so unfortunately cannot pay our staff team.  That’s why we’re called volunteers, rather than employees.  However, we still offer in-game perks and benefits to our staff team.  Those include:

  • Access to all unlockable channels in Discord.
  • Free Diamond Rank in the Gamer Dorks Minecraft Network.

And we hope to add more as Gamer Dorks grows.

Promotions

All staff members start as a Helper, and are promoted periodically when Management determines that their work is exceptional.

  • Helper: The starting staff rank with minimal permissions and few leadership responsibilities.  Apply and get accepted to join Helpers.
  • Moderator: The intermediate staff rank with many permissions and some leadership responsibilities.  After it is determined that the Helper will be active and beneficial to the team, they are promoted to Moderator.
  • Manager: The advanced staff rank with most permissions and many leadership responsibilities.  Moderators who excel in their position and seem ready to take on leadership responsibilities will be offered a promotion to Manager.
  • Administrator: The final staff rank with all permissions including some game server console access and most leadership responsibilities.  Senior Managers with the most experience and capability will be moved to this position.
